4th Meeting of the African Mining Partnership

Eng. Sameh Fahmi, Minister of Petroleum, assured that the only way for African countries to raise their economies and develop their mining and petroleum resources is setting up joint projects to achieve integration among them instead of competition.
This was part of the speech of the Minister of Petroleum at the 4th Meeting of the African Mining Partnership, convened in Akra, Ghana, with the presence of energy and mining ministers of Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia, Mali and representatives of African countries’ ministers, members of the organization, delivered, instead of his Excellency, by Eng. Amgad Ghoniem, First Under Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
The meeting reviewed various joint projects among the African countries, aiming at maximizing the value added of the African mining raw materials, and establishing industries based on them instead of their exporting at primary status, which maximizes the economic value.
The conference stressed on the need to set fair policies to exploit small mines to encourage small investments in mining domain, as well as setting a database to benefit from the African cadres of great experience in mineral resources' expedition and exploitation, and the projects based upon. This is in addition to emphasizing the significance of sustainable development in Africa through the establishment joint mega mining projects among the African states.
The conference recommended the continuity of cooperation and exchanging information between the African Mining Partnership and the rest of the other African organizations.
